Civil Society for Nature-Based Local Agri-Food Systems (CS4FS)

The Civil Society for Nature-Based Local Agri-Food Systems (CS4FS) project, implemented by JWAS in partnership with Aasaman, PAC and executed by the German agency Deutsche Welthungerhilfe e.V., aims to empower marginalized households, civil society actors and local governments to adopt regenerative agricultural practices. By providing capacity-building, knowledge-sharing and infrastructure support, the project aims to establish a sustainable and resilient local agri-food system that benefits communities, preserves biodiversity and enhances climate adaptation. Over the course of 52 months (October 1, 2024 to January 31, 2029), the initiative will drive transformative change in the agricultural landscape with the knowledge and resources needed for regenerative farming.

The project also fosters eco-entrepreneurship and market linkages, strengthening local economies while promoting soil health, water conservation and biodiversity. It builds the capacity of civil society actors to advocate for agroecological policies and strengthens the ability of local governments to design and implement climate-resilient agricultural programs. Covering Charnath, Janaknandini and Sahidnagar municipalities in Nepal, the project reaches 5000 marginalized households (26,610 persons), addressing challenges such as Churia hills degradation, flooding and droughts. Indirectly, all households and provincial populations will benefit from improved policies, awareness campaigns and sustainable agriculture initiatives, fostering a more resilient and inclusive agricultural system.
