Beneficiaries:               7,500 female and 3,000 male Mushahar aged between 10 and 19

Brief Details

With the purpose of improving the learning outcomes of the Musahar community JWAS is implementing Marginalized No More project in Mahottari, Dhanusha, Siraha, Saptari and Sunsari district of Nepal. The project is being implemented side by side with Breaking the Bonds project started last year. This project will focus on supporting Musahar girls with major interventions including Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP) for education transition, Livelihood Programme for employment transition or enterprise set up and Life Skills Protection Programme for gender equality and leadership development. The project targets out of school Musahar girls from 10-19 years of age including those that dropped out of school at least for 6 months, disabled girls, married and young mothers. Additionally, the project supports teachers to better facilitate enrolment, retention and inclusion of the Musahar girls in schools. The overall goal of the project is Improved ability of Mushar Girls to transition into meaningful employment and income generation. 30 protection advisors are delivering protection classes in the community spaces.
