At RECET, we firmly believe that women are key drivers of climate resilience, and their leadership is essential in shaping a sustainable future. Through our innovative approach to the Local Adaptation Plan of Action (LAPA), we are empowering women-led assemblies to take charge of climate action at the local level.
In our latest initiative, we have successfully implemented 4 women-led assemblies in Sahidnagar Municipality and Ganeshman Charanath Municipality in Madhesh province. This initiative is enabling women farmers to actively participate in climate change decision-making, and to advocate for investments in LAPA. Our workshops, alongside rigorous SAMVAD sessions, are laying the groundwork for women-friendly, climate-resilient activities that will impact both communities and local policy.
Key Achievements:
Advocacy and Leadership Training: Two comprehensive advocacy and leadership training sessions were held to equip SAMVAD group members with the necessary skills to initiate climate actions at the local level and raise their voices in the local planning process.
Women-Led Assemblies: Four local assemblies are actively driving climate action from the ground up, ensuring women’s involvement in shaping climate resilience strategies.
Workshops & Collective Action: Three empowering workshops have been held to help participants understand the opportunities within LAPA and develop collective action plans tailored to their local contexts.
Local Government Engagement: Women-led assemblies have successfully presented their climate action plans, based on LAPA, to local governments. This engagement ensures that climate resilience is prioritized in the formulation of local plans, policies, and upcoming budget allocations.
Madhesh Milestone: We are proud to have achieved a major milestone with the successful localization of climate action through women’s leadership in Madhesh province, setting a powerful example for future climate resilience initiatives in the region.
Join us in championing women's leadership as we work together towards a more climate-resilient and sustainable future for Madhesh and beyond.
