When women lead, communities thrive
Under Resilience for Women through Climate-smart Economic Transformation (RECET)
project, we are developing a gender-sensitive Local Adaptation Plan of Action (LAPA) to
mitigate climate risks like floods and droughts. Inclusive vulnerability analysis and participatory
resource mapping enable communities to prioritize local assets (forests, water resources) and co-
design strategies to increase their resilience. This process is led by women, organizing
participatory workshops on climate impacts, conducting field surveys for vulnerability mapping
and ensuring 50%+ women representation in decision-making committees so that solutions
become inclusive. Leveraging gender-sensitive data tools, GIS-based resource mapping and
institutionalizing women as "Climate Champions" RECET facilitates women-led climate action.
